Snorkel News

The Sand Dollar has been providing shelling and dolphin tours for two weeks departing from the Destin Harbor.  This tour has quickly become a favorite for families with small children!  We take you into the bay where you get off the boat in approximately 3 feet deep water.  There are snorkel and masks on the boat if you want to use them to search the water and beach for shells and crabs. After finding shells and hermit crabs, the kids participate in a hermit crab race.   The second portion of the tour takes you into the gulf and bay looking for dolphin, another family favorite!

Destin Snorkel’s captain and crew have been anxiously waiting to take the Sand Dollar on it’s maiden voyage!   It’s first shelling and dolphin tour went out Tuesday and now we love the boat even more!  The weather couldn’t have better;  sky was clear, water was emerald green and calm.  We had an awesome trip and the kids had a great time participating in our hermit crab race!

 

Sand Dollar is Destin Snorkel’s latest vessel to join the fleet.  The Sand Dollar is a very comfortable Corinthian boat Coast Guard approved to carry up to 49 passengers.  The seating is very comfortable and passengers can move around at their leisure.  There is a canopy for shade and a clean restroom on board.  Sand Dollar will operate our daily 2 hour shelling and dolphin tours.

 

The dolphin have been very active and the sunsets this week have been beautiful!  Be sure to book a dolphin sunset cruise while on your vacation in Destin.  The tours are 2 hours long, we take you into the Destin harbor and then into the Gulf and Bay looking for dolphin and watching the sunset.  In addition to a great tour, we offer complimentary beer, wine, soda and bottled water.

Gregg Velez, our videographer on Snuba tours, got this awesome picture of a blenny.  We liked this little guy so much we put it on a canvas for display in the Snuba hut!  The water this week in Destin has been fantastic and the temperature is warming up; summer is finally here.
